  1. The single most important work created by my artist, was probably the 12 etudes that VL created. These 12 etudes represented themselves through the emotions that he had been feeling at the time that he wrote them. These 12 pieces are probably the most famous, and important of his works.

  2. The single most important work by my artist was definately "The Dying Swan". This was a dance that was choreographed just for her. The dance shows off her very agile and gentile body. Anna Pavlova is very widely know for "The Dying Swan" because of her elegance and grace when she performs. Anna Pavlova really enjoyed performing this because she really felt as though she was able to connect to the dance with her own emotions.

  3. The single most important work by my artist was ''The Madonna Night Scene''. She performed a dance in this movie she was in and the character that she played was a girl that loved to dance and her name was Madonna. I like it because it was a really famous act and she got paid 7,000 dollars a week from this movie so it was really popular at the time. Mata was really succsesful through her career but not as a child.

  4. The most important piece that my artists takes most pride in was her first concerto of six violins. When performing this she was conducting many men and famous male composers. From that day she started to become more respected. This made it easier for her to continue writing music without harsh criticism from the well-known male musicians.

  5. The single most important work created by my artist would be his epic novel, "War and Peace." When Leo Tolstoy was a young man, just out of school, he joined the Russian Army with his brother. This time of his life was when he wrote his first book, and turned out to be a pinnacle point of his life. He gained much inspiration for his books during this time. "War and Peace was one of these books. It is the novel for which he is most famous for. It has been reviewed as a very accurate depiction of war and it's affects.

  7. The single most important work created by my artist is "The Fatal Wedding." "The Fatal Wedding" is an exceptional piece and very sad. The piece was full of drama! The song was so deep that even without lyrics you could feel the song and know what was going on. The song brought you and then dropped you because it says "Wedding and you think happy but don't forget the "Fatal" part. The groom was only after the bride's dad's money and at the end everyone dies.

  8. I would have to say Mozart's last work, the Requiem Mass in D Minor (K. 626) was his most important work. It is arguably his most famous work. It demonstrates his significant musical skills and ability to compose exemplary operas. He died before completing the piece and later had it finished by understudy Franz Xaver Süssmayr, and this made it more famous. He may have composed many staples of the muscial reprotoire, but the Requiem probably left the most significant impact in the world of music.

  9. The Single Most Important work that was created in my opinion was the Montichello. It was his home, and was a creative monument showing his skills. He made a lot of monuments but his own home tops them all, including the University of Virginia. But the Montichello was even used it to hold slaves, which was legal at the time. It is frowned upon now but back then it was unfortunately important.

  10. I believe that the most important invention that Thomas Alva Edison made was, of course, the light bulb. The reason why I think this is because with out light bulbs, you couldn't do some of the things we like to do. I know solar energy is better, but wen the sun goes down, the energy goes with it. So if you wanted to watch a show or a movie at night, you wouldn't be able to. So thats why I think that, and also,if he didn't invent that, I would not have a major at SCPA.

  11. I consider Dies Irae to be one of the most important works of Verdi. I know it wasn't the chorus of Hebrew slaves, and didn't greatly affect politics, but to still be rather popular today... I know that if you ask people for a piece that makes them think of the end of the world, they're most likely to say Dies Irae. It's not the best, but it's amazing that it's still popular today, with how many songs are made in a day.

  12. I think the most important painting my made was my painting of the moon(it doesn't have a title, but it's my profile picture). It is my artist's most famous work, and showed how small and dark earth was, compared to the moon. These were feelings that were going through his head as he witnessed firsthand the destruction that had been wrought on his favorite country, Germany. He felt that war was useless, and it made him sad. It has inspired artists everywhere.

  13. The most important work created by my artist was "Self-Portrait with Two Pupils" because it symbolized that women could be treated better or just as good as men in society. Adelaide had the guts to display herself in a arrogant tone in the elegant painting. It was one of her most famous works and it gained her attention from many famous artist that approved her work and she got into a school (which was mainly for men) that would teach her to improve her art. "Self-Portrait with Two Pupils" was also quite controversial because it was rare to see women painted in such high status, unless they were queens.

The most important work created by my artist was her first albulm. Bessie was rarely known when her first album came out but the album recorded sold over 2,000,000 copies the first year. That has to be amazing for an artist not known that comes from the south where during the time she was singing many African Americans did not get recognized for there hard work.Selling over 2,000,000 copies in the 1920's really had to boost her confidence of being a jazz singer. At this time she really knew people liked her work.

  15. I think that my artist had two masterpieces. I chose them both because of how influential they were and still are. The first is the development of the electromagnetic pickup, an invention that without it, we would not have any electrified music at all. His second was the F-5 master-model mandolin. While the pickup could be considered a strictly scientific achievement, this beautiful instrument is really both an artistic and scientific achievement. It can be used as a study in form, and as a study in acoustic science.

  16. My artist, Rosa Bonheur's, most important work was probably The Horse Fair. It was a huge painting, 96 by 199 inches, which is about 8 feet tall and 16 feet wide. This painting recieved the most acclaim out of all of her work. Even though all of her art is magnificent, none of them had as much energy and vibrance as this one. In fact, The Horse Fair was so popular that when it was displayed inside a salon, the Queen saw the painting and thought that it was so great that she commissioned a painting from Rosa to be displayed inside her castle.

  17. I feel that the most important work created by my artist was the Bordeaux Theater in France. It is probally one of Victor Louis' works that he is most renowned for. I think a lot of people who live in France know about the Bordeaux Theater and recognize that Victor Louis designed and built it. I think that because he is not renowned all over the world like some artists, (for example, Mozart, Beethoven), that the Bordeaux Theater draws attention to the architect who created it. I also think that the Bordeaux Theater is important because it is a place for performing and I feel that it might help keep the arts flourishing in France, especially the city of Bordeaux in which it is located. And maybe because the theater is so fabulous looking in the style of architecture it was constructed from that it might also draw attention to the beautiful styles of art and architecture and the skillful architects of the Revolutionary era. I think the Bordeaux would be a contributing factor in showing the citizens and tourists of modern day France what the styles of art and architecture were like back in eighteenth century France. 18. An accomplishment of my artist was being compared to violinist Joseph Joachim. Women were rarely compared to men, because they were not "supposed" to be doing the same line of work. Though Wilma Neruda didn't have a specific signature that she is known for today, she was able to travel the world sharing her talent with others that inspired thousands. That, I believe, is an accomplishment in itself.

  19. I think that Clara Schumann's most important piece she composed was probably (in my opinion) Drei Romanzen fur Violine und Klavier, Op 22 (Three Romances for Violin and Piano, Op.22). I say this piece because it really spoke about her life with her husband, Robert Schumann, who she loved so much. Especially the last romance, which is very passionate. The first one really shows off her light, fun character. And the gentle Allegretto in the middle, the clarity of dreams, of which Clara had many :)

  20. The single most important work created by my artist was his Armida. The Armida was one of his most successful works, he was discovered by a lot of people from this piece of music. It also shows his emotions, the deepness of the piece shows a lot about his character. Also, the Armida is listened to more then lots of his other works.

  21. The single most important art work created by Jean George Noverrre was the pantomime. Pantomime is a way of telling a story but through dance. It would be difficult to understand the story of a ballet if there was no dialogue or sign language to help you. The pantomime is still used today in almost every ballet. Ballet its self is very expressive, but when there is some kind of story line it is all the more enjoyable. I would say its also the easiest language to learn. Noverre had a lot of influences on ballet. I could say they are all very important, but the pantomime is known everywhere.

  25. I think that the most important thing that my artist created was his own style of comedy. My artist's style of comedy changed how plays were written. That then was changed by other playwrights which then became what we have here today. If art was the same as it was back then, the plays created today would never exist as the way we see them. I believe that this is what my artist's greatest achievement was.

  26. The single most important work created by Lewis Hine, my artist, was his portfolio of Child Labor photos. No single photograph would have had quite the impact that an entire collection would have. People viewed Hine's photographs as a whole, not as a bunch of small pictures. That portfolio of photographs showed people what was really going on inside of the work places and what the children were going through. Lewis Hine's photographs were a main contributer to the banning of child labor.

  29. The most important piece that my artist composed was the St. Matthew Passion. It is a piece for solo voices, double choir and double orchestra. It is widely regarded as one of classical music's master pieces. He also wrote the St. John Passion. Both tell the story of crucifixion of Jesus. My artist was a deeply religious man. Many of his pieces were composed to worship God.

  30. I believe the most important thing Maud Powell created was the "Women and the Violin" document and/or award.Theodore Thomas also helped her create it but it was based and presented by her. This document states that women were now able or more capable to play an instrument. Being a soloists even. Without this document and Maud's and Theodore's hard work. Many female musicians would probably have had to hide their talents under a rock. Never being able to share it with anyone.

  31. The most important work created by my artist was because he became a choreographer and set La Sylphide. He created this work in 1836. It is a two act Romantic ballet. It is his most popular ballet and is still being performed today. Its is a beautiful ballet. There is a picture of it on August Bournonville's blog with more information.

  33. My artist's most important piece was "The Progress of Steam". This was also his most famous piece. It is of a man using steam technology to travel, while flying past those stuck on horses. It helped to show my artist's view of what he wanted to see in the future.

  34. The most important work created by my artist, Julie Candeille, has to be her opera Catherine. I feel it was the most important of all her work because it was her most famous pieces. It is still well known today, and the people of France are proud to have it as apart of their artistic history.

  35. Samuel Hannaford's most important piece of work was Cincinnati's Music Hall. I believe this is so because it is still standing today and still houses the art of cincinnati. Music Hall has had numerous artists and bands perform in the legendary theater space. Today it still amazes people with the beautiful architecture.

  37. The single most important work that David Garrick did was his role as Richard the III in 1741. Before this role David had kept his career a secret from his family. Acting at that time was sometimes frowned upon. After his role as Richard the III was so successful, he told his family about his career and his career began to become even more successful.

  38. I believe Marie's most important work would have to be inventing the 90 degree turnout. I think if she hadn't many and most of the ballet dancers would all have the same boring turnout . If she hadn't created the 90 degree turnout I believe no dancer would think of it . The 90 degree turnout to me is a very good accomplishment/work Marie has created . It defines the dancer as having a beautiful and wide turnout, which is a very good thing !

  39. I think the single most important peice that my artist created or took part in was "The Warrens of Virginia" directed by David Belasco. I beli eve this is true because this is the show that threw Mary Pickford into show business. This show was her first Broadway show, which is a huge accomplishment in my book. One of the pieces that was just as important was "Pollyana" because she created it, directed and acted in this movie. This was the start of her directing/acting career.

  41. I believe my artists most important work was her memoir. The book, titled 'Kiki's Memoirs' was a very interesting read that was funny and intriguing. But, the book was also very risque for the time period, revealing details about Kiki's intimate life and filled with Man-Ray's nude photographs. Because of that, the book was censored all over the world and banned in the United States until the 1970s. That's why it was such an important work- not only was it an awesome piece of Kiki's life, but she had to work to overcome how it was being received. But Kiki, being Kiki, didn't let any of this get to her and just carried on with life!

  42. I think that the single most important work by my artist was when he put togather the Hellfighters band. I say this because this band was known world wide. They traveled during the war and played for Allied leaders. In France and Britain. The leaders were so impressed that they didn't even believe what they were hearing. They were convinced that the insurments were trick insturments. D.B. 1
