I think that this project was really beneficial. Instead of doing a regular research project, we made ours via a blog. This way everyone could see the fabulous work of our school. We were also able to incorporate our school majors into our project, which really helped us as artists. We learned what we have to do in order to succeed as an artist.
I really think this was a unique and clever way to go about doing a research project. I was so much more interesting than a paper, and we got to interact with each other!
I believe this project was beneficial and unique. I learned about an artist that was similar to my major and understood all the trials Gussie L. Davis had to go through to become a succesful composer. Also, I think it was unique because I have never made my own website/blog. I thought that was special because most teachers just have you turn in a paper essay and this was fun and different. I enjoyed this project!!!
This was definetly a cool project to do. It is different from normal projects, and even better we got to work with another school! So much work was due and it seemed overwhelming at first that I wouldn't be able to get it done, but in the end I am very proud that I did! This was challenging and fun.
This was REALLY an interesting project that took alot of computer time. I really wonder how people did this project without an computer, I can only imagine how many days a week they had to go to the library with the little time we had in the computer lab. I am really glad you gave us this project it helped boost my grade which I thank you for. This project helped me to FOLLOW directions because without following directions I'm sure I would get a F because I am not an computer wizz. I can't beileve how many accounts I have on the computer (LOL)!!! This project was defnitly worth all the stress I went through hahaha it helped me to balance my work and showed me how talented people are not just at Performing Arts but also at Norwood how we collaborated to communicate with them through our different blogs. I learned alot about Rob also how to make and create and blow up different bombs around the United States and different countries.I think everyone should get a A that did this project because with the work and effort we put into these blogs and interviews and how to post pictures and different idems on one website without someone really guiding us(this showed how smart we are we read off a piece of paper how to do numerous things). I lerned alot about ancient people who did incredible things. This quarter I'm really looking forward to my grade we dis a ALSOME job on these blogs and i will defnitly brag about this.I am proud of everyone who completed this project successfully!!Ms.Andreadis defnitly expanded our knowledge about computers how to use different websites and learning about different artist like ourselves! I think if we were to do a regular project it would be boring and long. This was cool! M.E BELL1
I am glad to have had one class that truly felt like a AA class. With most other classes the one thing separating a AA and a non AA is merely the title! This project not only opened me up to a whole other world of musicians, but caused me to become more hip to educational technology. I had never used a blog site prior to your project! I will probably continue and create a personal blog just for me! This was far more interesting than a regular poster and research kind of project. I am a hands on learner, so I am even more excited to make and share music with my peers in a couple of weeks. I hope that you do this next year with you ninth graders; no matter how much work it was, it is gratifying to see the collaborations taking place. =)
I think that this project was a really good idea, even if it was a little unorganized :) You should definitely keep doing it. It made me realize how much more there is to our class than meets the eye. It was really interesting to read what my peers had written about their artists, to learn together. And interesting to use the internet to do so! I think the only thing this project needs is to be better organized. You come up with some really great project ideas Ms. Andreadis. I really love your creativity with coming up with them. Thanks for a great freshman year.
One of my favorite things about this project was learning about scientists and other artists. I learned that Thomas Jefferson was an architect. I did not know that before we communicated with each other on the blogs. I also learned that scientist Charles Darwin was a Catholic. Again, I did not know that before we communicated with each other. He was from England, wasn't he? I find it different for there to be Catholics in England back in them days. I thought England was predominantly a Protestant nation because of the wars with the British Protestants and the Irish Catholics, but it's possible for there to be Catholics in England I guess. I thought that Italy, Spain, Ireland, and France was where a lot of people back in them days practiced Catholicism, I didn't think there was much of that in England. I also think each of our blog backgrounds are unique as well as our artists. I find this an interesting project. S.P.W. bell 1
Frankly, I'm happy we did this instead of a boring paper! Even though it would've beem simpler for me and my teachers grading period, it was worth it. Great Experice ;)
I feel as if this way a more beneficial or better way to do a research project. I feel I've learned more, and understood on how to use a blog and my artist I feel like I got a better understanding of who she was by working this way. It was a challenge with alot of steps but it was fun and educating along the way.
Working on this project was an wonderful experince and hey just I wish all my teachers would have done something like this...well a boy can dream atleast. KN 1
I think that this project was very helpful and informative. It was something different than doing a research paper. Also Instead of turnig a paper into the teacher, it allowed us to get on other peoples work and see what they wrote about and learned. I have not only gained information about Leo Tolstoy, but also other artists and scientists.
This blog was an experience. The fact we did something more interactive then just a boring research paper is incredibly fantastic. Working with Rob was also a good experience, he showed how to set up the blogs and post certain things. This was also a learning experience, a mass gain of knowledge, we had a good reason to learn about other people instead of just reading for fun. This was a very informative and enjoyable project.
Ms. Andreadis, I was on Benny Goodman's blog and saw the comment you put about your father listening to Goodman's music when you were a little girl, and I remember when my daddy played Reggae in the apartment when I was little and we used to go to the African store and buy insence and burn it in the apartment. On Easter Eve in smelled similar to insence at my church. It was probablly the stuff the priest has at church, like the smoke that comes out of that object they wave back and forth as they walk up and down the aisle. And I'd be in my uncle's car and he'd play country when I was little. S.P.W. bell 1
This project really got me thinking hard it was wonderful and tested my mental capacity to see how far i was willing to go i loved it you should really do this again next year o and i absolutely loved learning about Edvard Munch if it wasnt for you i wouldnt know about him
I think that this project was a great and exciting learning experience. I enjoyed doing this project instead of some boring written research report. I would love to get the chance to do something like this again.
I believe that this was a fun project. Although I think you should make it harder for the eigth graders. You know, just to get them ready for college and be successful. Jk u dont have to do that. (unless you want to)
This has been one of the most influential (artistic wise) projects I have done in a long time. It has helped me not only learn a lot about the history of ballet, but I also learned about other arts and even scientists. These projects were very extensive and complex. I really I am not much of a computer person at all. So personally I had a very hard time with learning how to do most of the assignments, considering they were all on the computer. Although at times I got really frustrated with the tasks we were told to do, I am thankful that we were made to do this assignment (because I wouldn't have on my own). I found out a lot about ballet and how it go started and who the major dancers were. I really enjoyed looking a the other artists blogs as well. When I would look at some of the artist's paintings, and found that I knew the paintings just not the artist. So when I read their blogs and and their interviews I got to know who they were. I will never forget this ninth grade history project I had. GY bell 1
Overall, I think this project was a little messy in terms of preparation- I wish we got more out of the Norwood kids, and got an opportunity to have an engaged conversation with other artists and scientists. The project certainly gave me my fair share of stress ( which, I'm sure a lot of people think they could use a little less of) but, in the end, it was enjoyable. It was fun writing the interview in the perspective of my artist!
I thought this project was really cool because I got to learn about artist and scientist that I did not know that much about or did not know. I thought it was a a different, cool kind of project because usally we got to do a research project than write a essay about it but this time we got to make a blog site about reseacher project.JD bell 1
... I never got around to posting those ads to my blog. I never got around to asking, either. Eh, I guess I won't make much money now that everyone's done. How sad. I almost want to cry manly tears. Or average tears are good, too... From my left eye, specifically. On a more serious note, I think there should be more communication between the schools. You can easily make some free private chat rooms, if you needed.
I thought this project was a great idea and concept. The execution, however, was not so great. One issue that I always saw was that people had a hard time using and updating their blogs. Some people aren't around computers a lot and aren't very good at using them, and for these people a project like this seems ridiculously overwhelming. The whole communicating with another school idea didn't work too well, either. I think if you do this project again, it should be introduced earlier in the year and be planned a little better. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the project and learned a great deal from it. :)
Mrs andreadis, this project was and still is a wonderfull idea and even though it gave me personally many hardships ,I still receved an excellent grade so far. I truly advise you to assign this this project to the future freshman of scpa. ballard-1
I enjoyed doing this project very much. IT was very beneficial for us I feel because it didn't feel like we were doing a project it was like a craft. It not only taught us about our artist but also about ourselves the time period we recieved and how to blog. Even though we have all this technology does not mean we know how to use it, we learned about another thing by doing this project. I liked it a lot and feel like you should do this with students you have in future years to come. I learned about dancers of the past which will also help me with my career and is always helpful. Not only did I enjoy doing my own blog, I also liked looking at everyone else's blog.
Not really. :) However, I realize this question probably still counts for points, and so I'm just gonna blabber on for a few sentences for credit. Well, new school next year. I'm a bit dissapointed. I'm really gonna miss Mr. Roth's old room. Good times, good times....... Well, have a nice day, Ms. Andreadis!
I really enjoyed doing this project. It was way better than doing a normal research project which is totally boring. Doing this whole thing online was awesome, and I got myself set up on gmail which is way better than AOL! Haha!! I think we really got a great chance to show our creativity and show people how unique our school is. I also learned a lot about my artist. When we first started and I had to pick and artist, I didn't even know who Coleman Hawkins was. Now I know almost everything about him. This project was a lot of fun. Thanks Ms. Andreadis for having us do this and not a boring paper!
It has been an amazing project. It has incorporated our majors into a project in a fun creative process. This is much more exciting that a normal written essay. It has also been interesting to read other people's blogs and information on their artists as well. TT 7
My other thoughts would be that i greatly enjoyed doing this project. It really showed me what it takes to reach your full potential as an artist. I enjoyed the extensive research we had to do to learn about other creative people like me. I got to study their interests and achievements that made their careers work. Overall i found that it i work like there is no tomorrow, i could be part of someone's research project one day. K.N. 1
I believe that the project was a good experience to understand the life of an artist. It was good to be able to see the troubles and highlights of someone who's doing what you love.
